We LOVE garlic!

Mike and I were introduced to growing garlic the summer of 2010 while visiting our family in Ohio. After a day spent harvesting the biggest heads of garlic we had ever seen at the Thaxtons Organic Garlic farm we went home reeking of garlic juice and knew we were hooked. We got to see a whole summer of garlic growing and then planted our own little patch that same fall. Fred and Chris Thaxton have been wonderful mentors in garlic and life. Thirteen years later we are growing 22,000 heads of garlic on ¼ acre in Chaffee County Colorado. In 2020 we added more vegetables to the garden. Including radish, potato and onions. In 2021 we built a greenhouse, a farmstand, added even more vegetables and had our first season of CSA shares. In 2023 we are continuing the CSA program. You can find us every Saturday morning at the Salida Farmers Market you can also stop by the Farm Stand located at 9241 County Road 156 in Salida. The farm stand is open Monday-Saturday 10-6 June-November.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide fresh and local food, grown by people you can meet face-to-face.  It is the heritage of our country and we are proud to continue the tradition.

Growing Practices

We are Certified Naturally Grown, (the grass roots alternative to Certified Organic). We grow following low till and biodynamic processes, using an earth-friendly mentality. Our garlic is tended by hand, one clove at a time, on land that is free of chemicals. We have transitioned to a low tillage, permanent bed system using mulches, manures, and cover crops in order to hold nutrients and rejuvenate the soil. We use drip irrigation to conserve water and bring to market a unique crop of high desert garlic. From seed to harvest to storage, our garlic and vegetables are grown for you and good for you.

Checking on the garlic

The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.
